On 12th December, the British public will see their Christmas dreams come true, as the doors of ‘Out the Closet 2009’ in Covent Garden’s Flower Cellar’s will fling open and shoppers will have a once-in-a-lifetime chance, to get their hands on an exclusive array of Elton John and David Furnishes’ flamboyant clothing collection, direct from their wardrobes.
From outfits worn by Elton on stage to David’s favourite Dior shirts, fans will have the opportunity to step into the shoes of the biggest stars in showbiz for real, as well as hand pick from their finest collection of clothes and accessories, including sunglasses, luggage and belts. Ranging from £10 to £2,000, the stock will feature labels such as Versace, Dior, Prada, McQueen, D&G and Jean Paul Gaultier. The shop will be restocked daily until sold out and a clearance sale will take place on any unsold stock on Saturday 19th December. ‘Out the Closet’ always attracts the A-list shoppers from Elle Macpherson and Nathalie Imbruglia to Elizabeth Hurley. 100% of proceeds from sales will go to support the work on the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
‘Out the Closet 2009’ will be the fifth pop up shop the Elton John AIDS Foundation has held. The last ‘Out The Closet’, on Regents Street in 2002, sold approximately 15,000 items and raised £400,000 for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Elton John comments, “Out The Closet has become an amazing fundraising opportunity for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. We always get a fantastic response from the public - I think the idea that the items we all buy and enjoy can help someone in dire need, particularly at this time of year, really strikes a chord. I’m so grateful for everyone’s support in making this happen.”
David Furnish adds, “The new stock in Out The Closet represents the largest clear out that I have ever had, and it’s exciting to think that my clothes will draw a whole new demographic into our shop. For the first time we have sunglasses in-store and other accessories which will make great Christmas gifts”
The Elton John AIDS Foundation is one of the world’s leading non-profit organisations funding programmes that help to alleviate the physical, emotional and financial hardship of those living with, affected by or at risk of HIV/AIDS. EJAF was formed primarily to look after the needs of people living with HIV/AIDS in the United Kingdom; it is still the largest HIV/AIDS grant maker in the UK. However, during the past sixteen years, the organisation has also extended the scope of its work, now funding in 15 countries over 4 continents, it is one of the 20 largest international AIDS charities.
We would like to thank our sponsors, Covent Garden London for donating the use of Flower Cellars as our shop venue and JCPR (jcpr.com) for managing the media and communications, without whom, we would not have been able to make this happen.

Footprints in the sand
And helped me understand
Where I’m going
You walked with me
When I was all alone
With so much I no along the way
Then I heard you say
I promise you
I’m always there
When your heart is filled with sorrow and despair
I’ll carry you
When you need a friend
You’ll find my footprints in the sand
I see my life
Flash across the sky
So many times have I
Been so afraid ooh
And just when I
Have thought I’ve lost my way
You give me strength to carry on
That’s when I heard you say
I promise you
I’m always there
When your heart is filled with sorrow and despair
I’ll carry you
When you need a friend
You’ll find my footprints in the sand
When I’m weary
Well I no you’ll be there
And I can feel you
When you say
I promise you
I’m always there
When your heart is full of sadness and despair
I’ll carry you
When you need a friend
You’ll find my footprints in the sand

OFFICIAL STATEMENT: Dannii Minogue & Danyl Johnson

Hi there. I want to clear up exactly what happened on last night's X Factor show and post my sincere apologies to anyone who took offense. I made a comment about Danyl changing the lyrics of his song (And I'm Telling You - Dreamgirls). It was meant to be a humorous moment about the fact he has an opportunity to have fun with his song. An openly bi-sexual singing a song that is lyrically a 'girl's song'. Danyl and I were joking about the very same thing in rehearsals on Friday, so it carried on to the show. I'd like to apologise to anyone that was offended by my comments, it was never my intention. I spoke to Danyl straight after the show last night and he wasn't offended or upset by my comments, and knew exactly what I was saying.

Dannii attends CVQO Youth Appeal

Yesterday X Factor’s Dannii Minogue helped The Duke of Westminster to launch a £2m fundraising appeal for the educational charity CVQO (Cadet Vocational Qualification Organisation) at the Cavalry and Guards Club in Piccadilly, London. CVQO aims to widen the help it offers to young people to reach their full potential. There are currently over 2,000 eligible cadets who want to earn extra qualifications, sometimes the only ones they will achieve, but they are being excluded through lack of funding.
Dannii, having spent time hearing from 12 young people who have all benefitted from qualifications through CVQO said: “I think a CVQO Diploma gives cadets the edge – their X Factor!”
The Duke of Westminster, patron of the appeal, commented: “We know that young people are the future. We owe it to the next generation to give them the best possible start in life. CVQO is doing just that by helping them gain practical qualifications and preparing them for their future.”
Other guests included Lorraine Kelly, Kate Adie, Pete Waterman and Jonathan Rathbone, with others such as Joanna Lumley, Jools Holland, Martin Bell and Susan Hampshire all agreeing to be Patrons.
CVQO is a vibrant and dynamic organisation, helping cadets to find their X Factor. It was created to support young people in achieving their full potential, by engaging them in vocational qualifications outside of school. For some young people the only qualifications they have achieved have been through CVQO. Luke, a cadet from Liverpool quoted below, is now on a path to learning and employment that was previously beyond his reach.
“I have achieved more in the past year than I have my entire life. Not only have I gained internationally recognised qualifications, I have also managed to stay on the right side of the law thanks to cadets and CVQO.”

But help is needed. The appeal aims to extend these opportunities to other interested youth movements. This will be possible only with further funding.
Michael Gove MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families said, on visiting CVQO earlier this year: “The (CVQO) Team does a wonderful job helping young people learn so much in an environment which fosters self-discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills. We hear a lot about the problems with young people today but the cadets remind us how much we have to be proud of in the next generation.”
Said Edward Woods, chief executive of CVQO: “We offer young people a different way forward. The qualifications are vocational and often appeal strongly to those who for whatever reason have become disengaged or disenchanted with the academic route. There is a clear credits based progressive system, which builds up confidence and self-esteem in candidates. The funding we receive is stretched a very long way, but today we have over 2,000 cadets ‘waitlisted’ to register for a BTEC. In some cases, they have already completed much of the work in anticipation of being able to enrol.”
CVQO Patron and TV presenter Lorraine Kelly said: “I presented hard earned CVQO Diploma certificates to a group of dedicated cadets at the Queens Barracks in Perth just a few weeks ago. It was a hugely uplifting evening and another chance for me to get to know my cadets and their hard working adult instructors.”

2Day FM - Dance Off!
Pyjama party at 2Day FMIt's Tuesday and we kicked our heels off and came to work in pyjamas - what a dreamy job!
Peter Alexander sent over the most yummy 'jim-jams' (I was loving myself sick in my Little Red Riding Hood fleecy ones! Also a big thankyou from Andrew and Jackie O - sleep time is sorted!)
This week on my radio work experience, I have learned that I can get through a breakfast radio session on one coffee, two Wake Up bars, 3 Green Teas and a jug of water - but I have also learned that 2 minutes is not long enough for me to run to the toilet and get back on air - I blame it on the slippers today. I can run faster in heels!
We just finished our second dance rehearsal for our 'Single Ladies' dance off that you will be judging later in the week. Let me tell you that Beyonce makes it look real EASY!
All Young Talent Time fans out there - vote for me!!!!!!!!

Incorrect X Factor Story - 11th September 2009

Simon Jones, Dannii's spokesman said:
"The Daily Star have completely misrepresented the quotes that Dannii gave on Sinitta. Her quotes were said in jest with the reporter, as a joke. Dannii and Sinitta are on very good terms, and she is really looking forward to live X Factor shows next month. There is absolutely no danger of Dannii being sacked from the show, that is pure fabrication."
