Footprints in the sand
And helped me understand
Where I’m going
You walked with me
When I was all alone
With so much I no along the way
Then I heard you say
I promise you
I’m always there
When your heart is filled with sorrow and despair
I’ll carry you
When you need a friend
You’ll find my footprints in the sand
I see my life
Flash across the sky
So many times have I
Been so afraid ooh
And just when I
Have thought I’ve lost my way
You give me strength to carry on
That’s when I heard you say
I promise you
I’m always there
When your heart is filled with sorrow and despair
I’ll carry you
When you need a friend
You’ll find my footprints in the sand
When I’m weary
Well I no you’ll be there
And I can feel you
When you say
I promise you
I’m always there
When your heart is full of sadness and despair
I’ll carry you
When you need a friend
You’ll find my footprints in the sand

OFFICIAL STATEMENT: Dannii Minogue & Danyl Johnson

Hi there. I want to clear up exactly what happened on last night's X Factor show and post my sincere apologies to anyone who took offense. I made a comment about Danyl changing the lyrics of his song (And I'm Telling You - Dreamgirls). It was meant to be a humorous moment about the fact he has an opportunity to have fun with his song. An openly bi-sexual singing a song that is lyrically a 'girl's song'. Danyl and I were joking about the very same thing in rehearsals on Friday, so it carried on to the show. I'd like to apologise to anyone that was offended by my comments, it was never my intention. I spoke to Danyl straight after the show last night and he wasn't offended or upset by my comments, and knew exactly what I was saying.

Dannii attends CVQO Youth Appeal

Yesterday X Factor’s Dannii Minogue helped The Duke of Westminster to launch a £2m fundraising appeal for the educational charity CVQO (Cadet Vocational Qualification Organisation) at the Cavalry and Guards Club in Piccadilly, London. CVQO aims to widen the help it offers to young people to reach their full potential. There are currently over 2,000 eligible cadets who want to earn extra qualifications, sometimes the only ones they will achieve, but they are being excluded through lack of funding.
Dannii, having spent time hearing from 12 young people who have all benefitted from qualifications through CVQO said: “I think a CVQO Diploma gives cadets the edge – their X Factor!”
The Duke of Westminster, patron of the appeal, commented: “We know that young people are the future. We owe it to the next generation to give them the best possible start in life. CVQO is doing just that by helping them gain practical qualifications and preparing them for their future.”
Other guests included Lorraine Kelly, Kate Adie, Pete Waterman and Jonathan Rathbone, with others such as Joanna Lumley, Jools Holland, Martin Bell and Susan Hampshire all agreeing to be Patrons.
CVQO is a vibrant and dynamic organisation, helping cadets to find their X Factor. It was created to support young people in achieving their full potential, by engaging them in vocational qualifications outside of school. For some young people the only qualifications they have achieved have been through CVQO. Luke, a cadet from Liverpool quoted below, is now on a path to learning and employment that was previously beyond his reach.
“I have achieved more in the past year than I have my entire life. Not only have I gained internationally recognised qualifications, I have also managed to stay on the right side of the law thanks to cadets and CVQO.”

But help is needed. The appeal aims to extend these opportunities to other interested youth movements. This will be possible only with further funding.
Michael Gove MP, Shadow Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families said, on visiting CVQO earlier this year: “The (CVQO) Team does a wonderful job helping young people learn so much in an environment which fosters self-discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills. We hear a lot about the problems with young people today but the cadets remind us how much we have to be proud of in the next generation.”
Said Edward Woods, chief executive of CVQO: “We offer young people a different way forward. The qualifications are vocational and often appeal strongly to those who for whatever reason have become disengaged or disenchanted with the academic route. There is a clear credits based progressive system, which builds up confidence and self-esteem in candidates. The funding we receive is stretched a very long way, but today we have over 2,000 cadets ‘waitlisted’ to register for a BTEC. In some cases, they have already completed much of the work in anticipation of being able to enrol.”
CVQO Patron and TV presenter Lorraine Kelly said: “I presented hard earned CVQO Diploma certificates to a group of dedicated cadets at the Queens Barracks in Perth just a few weeks ago. It was a hugely uplifting evening and another chance for me to get to know my cadets and their hard working adult instructors.”

This week on my radio work experience, I have learned that I can get through a breakfast radio session on one coffee, two Wake Up bars, 3 Green Teas and a jug of water - but I have also learned that 2 minutes is not long enough for me to run to the toilet and get back on air - I blame it on the slippers today. I can run faster in heels!
We just finished our second dance rehearsal for our 'Single Ladies' dance off that you will be judging later in the week. Let me tell you that Beyonce makes it look real EASY!

Incorrect X Factor Story - 11th September 2009

Simon Jones, Dannii's spokesman said:
"The Daily Star have completely misrepresented the quotes that Dannii gave on Sinitta. Her quotes were said in jest with the reporter, as a joke. Dannii and Sinitta are on very good terms, and she is really looking forward to live X Factor shows next month. There is absolutely no danger of Dannii being sacked from the show, that is pure fabrication."

ONJCWC one year on... update
It has been one year since we all trekked across the Gobi desert in China, along the Great Wall. We swapped blisters for stilettos and frocked up for the Myer Precious Metal Ball last month. I joined Olivia Newton-John and other appeal ambassadors in celebration of Myer’s $1 million partnership with the ONJCWCA.
We have raised in excess of AUD $250,000 and we are still counting! The appeal’s current fundraising target is to raise a further $13 million, with support from the community, foundations and individual donations. I visited the Austin Hospital just before I left Australia to catch up on the exciting news... we have building plans... and we are set to break ground for the demolition of the old building at the end of the year. You all know that if I can accessorise walking boots, I can accessorise a hard hat! Someone give me the hammer!
We are getting closer to creating the centre. Patients are being moved out of the old cancer services building at Austin Hospital’s Heidelberg House over the next two months (June/July 2009). The old cancer services building will be demolished by the end of this year to make way for the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre.
Pictures from the Myer Precious Metal Ball, joined by Olivia, Tottie Goldsmith and The Queen!
The architects are designing an environment quite different to your typical hospital. This centre will have a calming, relaxing atmosphere. The interior design for the Wellness Centre will encompass and amalgamate all the senses: sight, sound, smell, taste and touch. The designers are working towards a 'green star rating' of 5. This is the highest level, and very hard to do when clinical treatment is the priority - but we will make it happen!
The public areas of the Cancer Centre will use more ‘natural’ materials in general, we are looking into things such as bamboo flooring, to provide a welcoming, comfortable, non-institutional feel to the hospital. Views to the outside particularly up to the Yarra Ranges. Landscape and lighting will be enhanced throughout these areas to complement the spaces. The interior finishes will provide a healthy, productive, safe and healing environment for patients and staff, with materials that are sustainable and that have low toxicity. Some materials that are being considered are bamboo flooring, environmentally friendly carpets, timber panelling and screens and stone.
Olivia looks over plans with the head architest Daryl Jackson
A less visible part of the project, but also of great importance to the comfort of patients, is the Ecologically Sustainable Design aspects known as ESD. This includes areas such as energy efficiency, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, indoor environment air quality, water conservation and waste minimisation.
Once fully completed, the centre will include dedicated research into vaccines, treatments and ultimately cures for all types of cancer; working in collaboration with the internationally renowned Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research that is head-quartered in New York . The Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre will be home to the largest clinical research site of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research worldwide - to develop innovative cancer therapies. Construction of the $157 million Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre is scheduled to commence towards the end of 2009, and open by 2012 – pending on funding.
This is not a concept anymore... its a reality. I thank you all for sponsoring me a year ago and helping to bring this project to life. More news very soon.
